There are no Commonwealth Games or Island Games commitments this year
This summer could be a 'really important one' for Isle of Man track and field athletes aspiring to compete on the international stage in future.
That's the belief of local athletics correspondent Dave Griffiths who says the coming months will be crucial for some competitors to earn qualifying standards for next year's Island Games in Orkney and future Commonwealth Games.
Meanwhile, the subject of recruiting more officials to help run local events across the disciplines remains a talking point.
Mr Griffiths thinks it continues to be something that should be addressed but things have been more positive in that regard recently:
