Badminton: Isle of Man to hold squad trials for new season

It's part of change to sport's performance pathway system

The Isle of Man Badminton Association is set to host trials to recruit players for the 2023/24 season.

The association says it's changing its performance pathway to create a 'more efficient transition' for competitors from junior to senior county level.

It's also hoped the new system will increase court time and fitness training across squads and make better use of local coaching resources.

Sessions will take place tonight (6 September) and next Wednesday (13 September) from 7-8.30pm for junior players under the age of 18 who wished to be considered for the senior squad and previous members of the junior 'A' squad.

On the same dates from 8.30-10pm will be trials for those over 18 and junior players who were previously members of the senior setup.

Elsewhere, this Friday (8 September) and next Friday (15 September) junior competitors who've not previously been a member of any squad or played for the 'C' and 'D' teams are invited to come along.

On those same dates at 6-7pm there will be a slot for juniors previously part of the junior 'B' team.

The cost per trial will be £5 per player - paid on the night.

Anyone with questions about the trial process is invited to contact performance@badminton.com
