Valkyres have won the Standard Bank Blincoe Cup.
In a close match at Mullen-e-Cloie yesterday (Sunday) they beat Peel by just three wickets.
The southerners batted first and ran up 147 with Graham Cain and Shazeb Raja both scoring 25. Peel then made 121 to trail by 26 runs on the first innings.
Batting for a second time, Peel made 138 – mainly thanks to a fine 52 from Phil Littlejohns.
That left Valkyres needing 113 to win. Good all round batting helped them reach that total with Keith Brew hitting the winning runs in the final over as Valkyres clinched the trophy for the first time.
