'The Grenade' had been due to compete in Blackpool this Saturday (7 Sept)
Isle of Man boxer Jade Burden's second professional fight this weekend has been called off.
'The Grenade' had been due to return to the ring at Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Saturday night (7 September) against a last-minute change of opponent in experienced competitor Rebecca Ferguson.
Ferguson had been a last-gasp replacement for Burden's original opponent Kerry Orton who recently withdrew due to personal reasons.
However, it's now understood whilst Ferguson had agreed to the contest, necessary paperwork for the bout to take place has not been completed before the deadline.
In an update to fans on social media, the Burden team says they have 'done everything possible' to get the fight on and 'can only apologise'.
The team adds anyone who has purchased tickets to attend the Blackpool event from them and wish to get a refund should contact the team directly.
The Island fighter made her pro debut back in April this year at Grand Central Hall in Liverpool with a points victory over Sheree Barnes.
