Floodlit Cup triumph as Whites defeat holders
A brace from Corinthians’ captain Jade Burden ensured the Whites won the 19th Nedbank Floodlit Cup for a sixth time on Sunday.
They came from behind to defeat rivals and neighbours Douglas Royal 2-1 in the final at the Bowl.
Royal had taken a first half lead courtesy of a Rebecca Cole strike, however Burden equalised before half-time and the livewire striker grabbed the winner early in the second half.
This was the eighth time the two sides have contested the final of the competition.
Corinthians’ Holly Sumner won the player of the match award for the second season in a row.
