Ravens looking to finally get 2026 underway

After their first match of the calendar year was postponed last weekend, FC Isle of Man look set to finally get 2026 underway on home soil this weekend.

Latest to face' The Ravens' at The Bowl in the NWCFL Premier Division on Saturday (10 January) are Burscough who thumped the Manx side in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

A win to start the year this weekend for FC Isle of Man could see them climb realistically as many as three places up the standings and take them up to 14 points clear of the drop zone.

However, the visiting opposition have plenty of motivation of their own with Burscough starting the weekend just three points off the play-off positions.

Rick Holden's FC Isle of Man will hoping to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time they faced the Lancashire outfit, which saw them on the end of a 5-0 hammering at The Community Ground back in September 2025.

Meanwhile, David Dempsey's Burscough will be keen to recapture some of their early-season form after a tough end to 2025 which saw them lose four of their last six in all competitions.

They'll also head into Saturday's encounter with the joint-third best defensive record in the division having conceded 28 goals, only third-placed Ramsbottom United (25) and league leaders, Wythenshawe (26) have let in fewer.

More generally, goals have come in abundance over previous meetings between FC Isle of Man and Burscough with 40 goals in seven games between them to date.

There's little to separate them in terms of results with FC Isle of Man winning four of those seven meetings compared to Burscough's three.

FC Isle of Man vs Burscough takes place at The Bowl in Douglas this Saturday (10 January), kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary on our DAB and AM1368 channels.
