Simon Murray ( handicap 3) recorded a simply stunning six-under-par 66 to capture the Capital International-sponsored Castletown Cup on Saturday, the opening day of Castletown Golf Week.
Murray began birdie, bogey but that was his only blemish as he sunk successive single putts on the fifth, sixth and seventh holes.
Another arrowed approach shot set up his fifth birdie on the 10th, and an inevitable eagle was bagged when the par five 12th was reached in two swishing swipes.
The almost metronomic Murray purely parred the last six holes to take the Town’s top prize by three clear shots, finishing on 63 net and posting a lowest gross score on the course.
Woburn’s Jeremy Frost (12) burned up the course to post a net 66 which was four shots ahead of third placed local player Byran McHahon (6).
