The T-Mobile rider now lies 4th in the points competition and 38th in the general classification.
Another Manx rider, John Bellis was 10th today and is 45th overall.
Tomorrow's stage runs from Rother Valley Country Park to Bradford.
The tour concludes on Saturday in Glasglow.
