Manxman looking for second victory
A strong team has been picked by British Cycling to back Mark Cavendish's bid for a second World Road Race title.
He will be supported by Adam Blythe, Stephen Cummings (a team mate of Cav's at Team Dimension Data), Alex Dowsett, Dan McLay, Luke Rowe, Island residents Ian Stannard and Ben Swift, Geraint Thomas and Scott Thwaites.
The flat course is seen as an ideal one for the Manxman to challenge for the title on.
The UCI Road World Championships take place in Doha, the capital of Qatar, between October 9 and 16.
