Manx Missile wins thrilling 40-lap derny
Mark Cavendish has been celebrating after he claimed his first win of the 2019 season at the Six Day London.
The Manxman took the plaudits on the opening night of the event, as he beat Caleb Ewan to the line in the 40-lap Derny race.
Ewan eventually had to settle for second place, despite leading the race right up until the penultimate lap.
After his win, Cavendish admitted he stayed at the back of the field to 'suss out how everyone was going'.
Earlier this year, the 34-year-old was left out of the Team Dimension Data set-up for the 2019 Tour de France.
Cav's latest victory at the Six Day London suggests he is getting back to his best after a lengthy battle with Epstein-Barr virus has hampered his progress for the last two years.
