Cavendish goes for glory

Mark Cavendish will be looking to cap a momentous achievement in Paris on Sunday.

The 'Manx missile' is bidding to complete the Tour de France for the very first time and hopes for a sixth stage win in this year's event with victory on the Champs Elysess.

He finished 104th in Saturday’s penultimate stage, one place ahead of Norwegian Thor Hushovd, who he trails by 25 points in the bid for the green jersey of which he has an extremely slim chance of snatching.

Alberto Contador has all but won the Tour and will take a lead of four minutes and 11 seconds into the final run.

Britain's Bradley Wiggins has fallen further behind in his attempt to clinch a podium finish.

He's still fourth, but he's now 37-seconds adrift of seven-time champion Lance Armstrong, who's third.
