
Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish has finished seventh in today’s (Monday) opening race of the Tour of Catalonia.
He finished four seconds behind winner, German Paul Voss with American Levi Leipheimer second and Voss's compatriot Andreas Kloden third.
Cavendish had been tipped to be a contender in the 3.6 kilometre prologue in the northeastern coastline of Spain.
Cavendish is short of form following off-season dental problems which delayed the start to his campaign.
Tuesday’s second stage from Salt-Banyoles is 182.6km.
