Bacchas A and Vikings A launch title defences
The reigning champions made winning starts to their title defences on Saturday.
In the PwC Men’s Premier League, Bacchas A saw off battling Vikings B 4-0, courtesy of strikes from Andy Whiting (two), Jamie Brown and Josh Riordan.
Vikings A launched their title bid by demolishing Bacchas B 11-1.
Tom Wilson (three), Steven Crowe (two), Steven Underwood (two), Al Birch, Tim Henderson, young debutant Archie Caley and Danny Hamill were on target in an impressive showing.
Tony Bentley Roberts netted the Bacchas’ consolation.
Ramsey A notched a fine 5-4 success over Valkyrs A.
Alex Kneale, Nay Smith (two), Jan Cain and Billy Cain scored the goals for the northerners.
Tim Stevenson and Ollie Webster grabbed doubles for Valkyrs.
In the women’s Premier League, champions Vikings A were far too strong for Valkyrs A.
Kim Carney (two), Mia Greenwood and Kirsty Cooper scored in a 4-0 success.
The points were shared between Bacchas A and Ramsey A as Jo Quine equalised Sophie Hudson’s opener in a 1-1 draw.
Castletown A recorded a big opening day win.
Hannah Leece (two), Dani Kelly (two) and Lois Hatton were the scorers in a 5-2 success over Harlequins A, who replied through Anne Hall (two).
