Manx Missile aims for a medal in Rio to end Olympic hoodoo
Mark Cavendish is in line for the one prize that eludes him so far - an Olympic medal.
The Manx Missile currently sits joint second in the overall Omnium standings in Rio following four events.
After a sixth placed finish in the 15km Scratch Race and a seventh placed result in the Elimination Race (he was penalised for overtaking on the inside), Cav excelled in the 4km Individual Pursuit.
He came second in that contest - with only Danish rider Lasse Norman Hansen beating him, setting a new Olympic Record in the process.
There are three more events today.
The time trial, 200m flying lap at 8pm this evening and the final event of the Omnium - the points race over 40km - at around 9.20pm tonight.
Cav completed the time trial event in 1:02:86 resulting in another sixth placed finish.
It means he's now level on points with France's Thomas Boudat in second place in the overall standings - 14 off leader Elia Viviani of Italy.

He believes Cavendish has plenty of reasons to be confident.
