Cricket: Double delight for Isle of Man on ECC day two

Island side scores wins over Bulgaria and Turkey at Cartama Oval

The Isle of Man secured a double-header of victories yesterday (24 September) to make it three wins from three at the 2024 European Cricket Championships.

Having beaten Croatia in their opening contest on Monday (23 September), the Manx side claimed a 26-run win over Bulgaria on Tuesday morning in their first match of the day at Cartama Oval.

The Isle of Man's haul of 154-4 across the full ten overs proved enough as their opposition could only manage 128-7.

That was followed by an impressive ten-wicket victory over Turkey later on Tuesday evening.

Handed a target of 110 to catch, the Isle of Man went on to surpass that mark in just under seven overs.

It means the Isle of Man moves into second in the standings of Group One in the Challenger Division on six points, two points behind leaders Estonia but with a game in hand.

The Manx team's next match is taking place right now against group leaders Estonia.

That will be followed at 5.30pm local time with a tie against a Slovenia side still searching for their first points of this competition.
