Island side wins majority of matches out in Finland

The Isle of Man men's national cricket side secured a fifth-placed finish during this year's ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers last week.

Contesting Qualifier C in the Europe Sub Regional Qualifiers in Finland, the Island side came away with a record three wins, one defeat and one match being cancelled due to poor weather.

The Manx squad began the campaign with an eight-wicket victory over Luxembourg on Friday, 14 August which was followed by a two-run defeat to Spain the following day (15 August).

Straight after that, however, the Isle of Man bounced back in style to defeat Bulgaria by 89 runs on Monday, 17 August in a match which also the Isle of Man's Chris Langford earn his 25th cap in Manx colours.

The Island's final group contest up against the hosts, Finland on Thursday, 20 August was then called off due to poor weather with the Isle of Man finishing third in Qualifier C due to run rate.

That set up a 5th/6th place play-off contest with Israel on Friday, 21 August - there, the Isle of Man signed off with a win with a dominant performance to claim the win by nine wickets.

Separately, the Isle of Man women's national cricket squad are currently in action at the 2026 ECN Continental Cup in Romania where they currently have back-to-back victories from their opening two games.
