Crowe brothers win again in second sidecar race

Jurby brothers become only third crew to do 120mph lap

Ryan and Callum Crowe have made it back-to-back wins at TT 2024 after winning this afternoon's restarted Sidecar TT Race 2.

Having dominated the first race, last weekend, the Jurby brothers once again controlled from start to finish - 20.4 seconds clear of the returning Ben Birchall and Kevin Rousseau in second.

Meanwhile Dave Molyneux - the most successful sidecar competitor in TT history - claimed his first podium in seven years as he and passenger Jake Roberts claimed third.

Furthermore, the Crowe brothers, on their final flying lap, become only the third sidecar crew in the races' history to lap at over 120mph with a final pace of 120.335mph.

The race initially began at 10.30am but the session was red flagged following an incident at Waterworks involving Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement - both were confirmed as okay following the incident with the race then restarted in full at 2pm.

As a result Ellis & Clement were non-starters this time around along with top contenders Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley who suffered a mechanical issue with their machine during the first outing.

As in the first sidecar race last weekend Ryan and Callum Crowe set down the early benchmark on lap one at Glen Helen, 4.7 seconds ahead of the returning Ben Birchall and Kevin Rousseau.

Elsewhere, an intriguing battle began for the final podium spot with five outfits separated by fewer than three seconds at the first timing point.

As machines arrived at Ballaugh the front two were unchanged as Lewis Blackstock and Patrick Rosney moved into third but with Alan Founds and Rhys Gibbons as well as Dave Molyneux and Jake Roberts firmly remaining in contention.

Following the first run over the mountain, and heading onto lap two, the Crowe brothers had built an unrelenting nine-second advantage out front at the grandstand from Birchall and Rousseau as 17-time TT winner Molyneux moved into third.

With the top two further solidifying their placings at Glen Helen on lap two, eyes began turning to the ongoing third-place showdown as Molyneux and Roberts continued to fend off Blackstock and Rosney.

Meanwhile Founds and Gibbons were rejoining the fight running in fifth, just one second off Blackstock & Rosney.

With victory almost in sight, the Crowe's went onto the final pass over the mountain section of the course a full 18 seconds ahead of Birchall and Rousseau and within touching distance of lap record pace.

At Ramsey there was further change as Founds and Gibbons overhauled Blackstock and Rosney into fourth by a marginal 0.2-second gap.

Come the finish - after leapfrogging Birchall & Rousseau on the road - the Crowe brothers crossed the line first on the road and become what is now a trio of crews who've reached the 120mph lap benchmark.
