Cycling: Castletown Crit returns for 2026

Street racing to take place in ancient capital today (19 July)

Cycling racing returns to the south of the Island today (19 July).

Having made a long-awaited return last year, the Castletown Crit will be held in and around the ancient capital of Mann this morning and this afternoon.

It's expected to feature riders of all ages from young juniors right up to senior stars in a meeting that's also been endorsed by some of the Island's biggest names in the sport.

Niall Quiggin - Director and Treasurer of the event's organisers, the Manx Viking Wheelers Club - explains what's in store and what makes Castletown an ideal location for such an event:

There will be a number of road closures and parking suspensions in and around Castletown today.

Roads will be closed and parking suspended between 11am and no later than 7pm on the following streets:

• Arbory Street from its junction with The Crofts to its junction with Market Square. 
• Market Square from its junctions with Arbory Street and Malew Street, to its junction with Castle Street. 
• Castle Street from its junction with Market Square to its junction with Castle Quay. 
• Castle Quay from its junction with Castle Street to its junction with Bank Street. 
• Bank Street from its junction with Castle Quay to its junction with Malew Street. 
• Malew Street from its junction with Bank Street to its junction with The Crofts. 
• The Crofts from its junction with Malew Street to its junction with Arbory Street.
