Manx Missile could target victory again on flat tenth stage
Sir Mark Cavendish returns to 2024 Tour de France action this afternoon (9 July).
Following a day of rest, the 'Manx Missile' and fellow competitors will be taking on a largely flat 187km route today for the tenth stage from Orleans to Saint-Amand-Montrond.
Having made history last week claiming an unprecedented 35th tour stage win, today's course profile may well provide an opportunity for the 39-year-old to further extend his record.
Today's phase got underway shortly after 12pm.
During his previous outing on stage nine on Sunday (7 July) Cavendish finished safely in a travelling pack 11 minutes and 42 seconds behind eventual stage winner Anthony Turgis.
The Manxman's teammate Alexey Lutsenko was Astana Qazaqstan's highest finisher two days ago in sixth place.
