Cycling: First 2025 event completed for Island riders

Riders compete down under

Island cyclists have competed in their first event of the year in Australia.

The Tour Down Under saw riders Ben Swift, Max Walker, Beckie Storrie and Lizzie Holden in action.

Walker made his World Tour Debut for Team EF Education Easy-Post while Swift continued with Ineos Grenadiers.

The Ineos rider had the better time of the two in Australia with a best placed finish of fifth but finished in 68th in the general classification while Walker ended in 87th.

In the women's tour Storrie and Holden could barely be separated in the GC.

Holden, of UAE Team ADQ, finished in 35th however Storrie managed a 31st place for Team Picnic Post NL.
