Cycling: Matthew Bostock takes victory at British championships

Top-ten elsewhere for Nicola Quaye during racing in Wales

Isle of Man cyclist, Matthew Bostock has been crowned a national champion after victory during the 2026 Lloyds National Road Championships in Wales.

Representing Rapha Cycling Club, the Manxman roared to victory in the Open race of the British National Circuit Championships on Saturday (27 June).

During a sprint finish on the streets of Ceredigion, Bostock went on to finish a second clear of his nearest rivals - Jacob Bush and Tom Portsmouth - who crossed the line second and third respectively.

On the same day, another Island athlete, Nicola Quaye, took on the women's circuit race with 360cycling where she impressed with an eight-placed finish in a competitive field.

Among the other notable performances from Manx competitors during the championships from 25-28 June came from Becky Storrie who powered to a fourth-placed finish in the Elite Women's Time Trial on Thursday, 25 June.

Meanwhile, Storrie and Bostock along with fellow Manx competitors, Ruby Oakes and Nicola Quaye were also involved in the elite men's and women's road races in Aberystwyth yesterday (28 June).

Storrie managed the highest finish, crossing the line in 17th in the elite women's race whilst Oakes and Quaye were eliminated from the contest late on during lap three.

In the men's event, Bostock was eliminated after the first lap whilst Max Walker and Zac Walker were non-starters.
