Manxman says several reasons are behind decision
Manxman Tyler Hannay has announced he's stepping away from professional cycling for the rest of 2025.
As a result he's also confirmed he will leave the 7 Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines team he joined at the start of the season.
Updating followers on his YouTube channel, the 21-year-old says it's no longer the route he wants to go down at this time, adding there are number of 'personal reasons' behind the decision.
Whilst halting his professional pursuits in the sport, Hannay also stated he intends to keep training and attending amateur events.
In September 2024 Hannay claimed his first ever UCI race victory by winning the sixth stage of the Tour of Poyang Lake in China at the tail end of last season for his previous employers Saint Piran.
For 2025 he's contested two events for his most recent team - a third-placed finish at the Jock Wadley Memorial Race in the UK last month (3 March) before competing in the Tour of Thailand from 24-29 March.
Explaining he wishes to 'explore new challenges', Hannay says in his update to followers that he got into the sport because he 'loves to ride a bike'.
However, Hannay goes on to say that in 'recent months' he's 'not had that same fire'.
Furthermore, the Island rider is thanking 7 Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines for the opportunity to ride for the team.
