Darts: IoM's Aaron Bradley shines on WDF Europe Cup day three

Mixed results for Island squad on penultimate day in Slovakia

Another selection of encouraging displays were put on by the Isle of Man darts team yesterday (27 September) on the penultimate day of competition of the WDF Europe Cup in Slovakia.

Friday saw the turn of the men's singles and ladies pairs events with all eight Manx competitors involved at the X-BIONIC SPHERE in Samorin.

The standout Manx display came from Aaron Bradley in the men's singles who made it all the way to the last-32 before a 4-0 defeat to Dennie Olde Kalter of the Netherlands.

Elsewhere in that event, Robert Nelson and John Halsall reached the round-of-128 before losses to Valters Melderis of Latvia and Simon Teysen of Belgium respectively.

Alan Young was knocked out in the preliminary round by Scottish player Scott Campbell.

Meanwhile, both of the Isle of Man's ladies pairs teams were beaten in the opening phase of that tournament yesterday.

Sarah Taylor & Jessica Corlett went down 4-1 to Slovakia's Lucia Jankovksa & Katarina Nagyova whilst Margaret Kelly & Nikki Bardsley were on the receiving end of a 4-2 defeat to Sweden's Anna Forsmark & Maud Jansson.

Today (28 September) is the last day of this year's event with the semi-finals of the male and female team events from 12pm before the finals across all the solo and team competitions from 1pm.

The Isle of Man will not be contesting any of today's finals.
