Manx team's participation in Budapest comes to a close
A trio of Manx darts players reached the knockout stages of this year's WDF World Masters in Hungary yesterday (10 October) in what would turn out to be the Isle of Man's last day in the competition.
Following the group phase on Wednesday Margaret Kelly had progressed to the women's knockouts whilst both Aaron Bradley and Kevin Lane moved onwards to Thursday's matches in the men's tournament.
Of the three it was Bradley who got the furthest in the knockouts - beating Czechia's Pavel Jirkal to reach the second round before being on the end of a 5-2 defeat to England's Matthew Edgar.
Elsewhere, Lane was knocked out in round one with a narrow 5-4 loss to Jani Keskinarkaus of Finland.
In the women's competition Kelly also bowed out in the first round with a 5-1 loss to Croatian contender Marina Letica.
Those results marked the end of the Island squad's participation at the 2024 event in Budapest which is running until Sunday (13 October).
The Isle of Man Darts Organisation (IOMDO) is congratulating all ten players who took part in the competition for their efforts.
The other seven who took part in the earlier group stages were Robbie Lawson and Robbie Nelson in the men's along with Janet Bailey, Sarah Corkill, Jessica Corlett, Nicola Libreri-Lane and Sophie Moore in the women's.
