Dave Molyneux takes up TT liaison and delegate role

Sidecar legend will assist new drivers and help with drafting regulations

Sidecar TT legend Dave Molyneux has taken up the post of sidecar liaison officer and technical delegate for the event's organisers ACU Events Ltd.

The 17-time TT winner - who retired from racing following this year's races - will assist in training for newcomer sidecar drivers planning to compete on the Snaefell Mountain Course.

He will 'act as a representative' between organisers, promoters and competitors as well as helping technical directors informing regulations and 'developing a rulebook for the class for the future.'

Speaking about his new role Mr Molyneux said: "Competing at the TT has meant everything to me for over 40 years, so calling time on my racing was always going to be a tough decision, but the podium this year was the perfect sign off. 

"It then became a question of ‘what next’ and I’m really pleased to have been asked to bring my experience into an official capacity.”

“Sidecars at the TT are in a really good position at the moment.

"Obviously there are some new names at the top but there are also some really promising newcomers coming on to the scene and I’m really looking forward to helping them however I can and helping the class develop as a whole into the future.”

The Andreas man's haul of 17 TT victories is more than anyone else in sidecar history with a further 31 podiums since his debut at the meeting in 1985.

His last victory came back in 2014 whilst he managed his latest podium this year - finishing third in the Sidecar TT Race 2 alongside passenger Jake Roberts.
