Neil Hodgson may be only 10th on the grid for the A.M.A. Superbike series opener at Daytona Beach, but the Onchan resident has put his 600 c.c. bike on pole position for the famous Daytona 200 race.
He's the first British rider to top the qualifying times since Paul Smart in 1974.
Shortly after setting the fastest time, Hodgson slipped off his American Honda between turns four and five but was uninjured.
