Southern Nomads well beaten in trophy
Douglas Celts underlined their strong domestic form by beating Southern Nomads 31-10 in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy at Port-e-Chee.Andy Vernon-Brown ran in two tries for Douglas, as did Mike Osborne, and Max Morley-Green was on target with the boot for four conversions and a penalty.
For Nomads the two big men from the second row were on the scoresheet, Dale Williams and Steve McHugh.
It was a double defeat for the Southern Nomads club with Emerging Nomads beaten 38-21 at home by Western Vikings in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl.
Kevin Mellor ran in a hat-trick for Vikings and there were also tries from Alex Gibson, Danny McElroy and Paul Wheeldon with Ryan Burke adding four conversions.
For Nomads, there were tries from Owen Carvin, Orry Watterson and Mark Lean with three conversions from Chris Clague.
