Douglas extend lead to eight points
Douglas recorded another win to keep them clear at the top of South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.
They defeated Southport 24-14 in one of the best games seen at Port-e-Chee for several seasons.
Two first half tries from Carl Murray, both converted by Luke Hyland, gave Douglas a 14-7 half-time lead, with Tom Peacock pulling one back for the visitors which Jake Mann converted.
Carl Markl-Ferns went over for Douglas in the second half with Hyland again converting, but Southport fought back and were still in the hunt when Peacock grabbed his second try and Mann his second conversion.
A Hyland penalty in the closing stages sealed the Douglas win and denied Southport a losing bonus point.
Douglas’ closest rivals also lost which means their lead at the top of the table has now extended to eight points.
