Douglas North get one hand on Manx Trophy

Douglas North beat Vagabonds 50-12 at Ballafletcher on Friday night to put one hand on the Manx Trophy. A bonus point win in their next game will leave them with an unassailable lead. They have a free week next Saturday but could clinch the title against Douglas South in 28th. Douglas’ youngsters weighed in to the scoreline with Craig Martin getting two and brother Kyle one, plus there was a try from Brendan Kelly. Mark Oldfield crossed for Vagas who were also awarded a penalty try.
 
An impressive second half performance saw Ramsey run out 54-7 winners against Southern Nomads. The Northerners led 14-7 at half time after tries from Brandon Atchison and Dan Richmond who also converted both. Jacob Meechan crossed for Nomads with Mark Young converting. After the break two quick tries from Rory Nicholson and Dave Keenan saw Ramsey forge ahead. Dan Richmond then added his second, Matty Meechan grabbed two in two minutes and Connor Goodall rounded the day off with a last play score.  Dan Richmond steadily added conversions to finish with a twenty four point personal tally.
 
In the Manx Bowl, Ramsey B recorded back to back wins when they ground out a 10-7 win away At Western Vikings. Ciaran Stephens went over for Vikings with Ryan Burke converting. Ramsey though just pipped them with tries from Jared May and Jake Richmond who was making his senior rugby debut.

At Ballakilley, Emerging Nomads beat Castletown 24-14. Ian Hargreaves, Dan Gallagher, Mike Quayle and Andy Lean all went in for Nomads with Ari Brooks-Lund converting two. Kyle Martin and Furo Davies both went on for Castletown with Martin converting both.
