Classic Junior MGP and 'Clubman Racing' being included next year
An expanded six-race programme for the Manx Grand Prix is being introduced for 2024.
It's been announced next year's event is scheduled to be held from 18-26 August and will see the return of a three-lap Classic Junior MGP crace for the first time since 2019.
Officials say this class has been brought back following consultation with the race organiser and representatives to bolster entry numbers and 'ensure the long-term viability of historic racing at the Manx Grand Prix.'
Smaller 350cc machines will be eligible for that particular race.
In another change, the Manx Motor Cycle Club is also bringing in the 'Clubman Racing' system aiming to provide 'further recognition' for amateur competitors.
Entrants will be classified as either 'TT' or 'Clubman' status - those who have entries accepted for the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races will be designated 'TT' and those outside that will be given 'Clubman' status.
Those in the Clubman category will be presented with a specific set of awards in the Lightweight, Classic Junior, Classic Senior and Classic Superbike races.
The provisional schedule for MGP 2024 is listed below, with further details on timings to be made in due course.
The schedule is subject to consultation and road closure approval by the Department of Infrastructure.
