Class was suspended at TT and S100 this year over safety concerns

It's the final day for people to give their views on the future of sidecar racing at the Isle of Man TT Races.

Earlier this month, organisers of the event launched a 'sustainability review' of the class with competitors, teams, fans and more invited to submit their thoughts on how the class can work going forward.

It follows a decision during qualifying week at TT 2026 to suspend the class for the remainder of this year's racing fortnight over potential safety concerns around modern F2 machinery.

Officials have previously stated the review will 'consider all feedback and information received along with several other factors includinghistorical and forecastparticipation levels, incident data, operationalconsiderationsand wider indicators relating to the sustainability of the class.'

Anyone with views on the matter is invited to send them via email to iomttraces@gov.im with the deadline for submissions at midnight on Tuesday, 30 June.

Following the suspension of three-wheeled racing on the Snaefell Mountain Course this year, Clerk of the TT Course, Gary Thompson said this was not the end for the class at the TT.

Going forward, a full report on the review is expected to be completed by the end of next month before being published.

Separately, the Southern 100 Club later announced that modern sidecars would be excluded from the upcoming Southern 100 Road Races on the Billown Course which will take place next week from 6-9 July, also on safety grounds.

The club added at the time it remains 'fully committed' to modern sidecar racing at Billown and it remains hopeful they can return in 2027.

As a 'contingency measure' for 2026, classic sidecars will instead feature at the Southern 100 Road Races.
