West Douglas has its first candidate for the House of Keys general election in September.
Taxi driver Martin Moore has declared his intention to contest the two-seat constituency, which has been represented by John Shimmin abd Geoff Corkish since 2006.
Mr Moore, who is 32, is seeking elected office for the first time.
He says he despairs at the apparent mismanagement of the current administration, and believes there is a desparate need for genuine diversification of the economy.
He sees tourism, and particulary leisure, as areas where there is room for significant expansion.
The 2011 general election is on Thursday, September 29, with nominations day on August 30.
