Football: 2026/27 Manx season starts with a bang

New campaign gets underway across senior men's divisions

There were goals aplenty this afternoon (29 August) as the latest Isle of Man football season kicked-off across Manx shores.

Clashes took place across all four senior men's divisions with clubs vying for the best possible start to the new campaign.

Among the Canada Life Men's Premier League ties, Peel got their title defence off to a positive start with a home win over Ramsey whilst there were victories elsewhere for St John's United, Union Mills, Corinthians and St Mary's.

In Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2, Malew, Pulrose United, St George's and Castletown each claimed three points in their respective openers whilst there was a stalemate between Douglas Royal and Douglas & District in the early kick-off.

Elsewhere, there was drama in the combination divisions with the standout result coming at Garey Mooar where Union Mills overcame Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) in a 13-goal thriller.

The Isle of Man football action continues in the coming days with midweek ties across the Canada Life Men's Premier League and Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 taking place on Tuesday, 1 September.

Further combination league meetings are also scheduled during midweek a day later on Wednesday, 2 September.
