Southerners claim first league title of latest men's season
Colby have been crowned Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 champions after victory in last night's midweek Isle of Man football clashes.
The combination of the southerners' narrow 1-0 win over Douglas Royal and Marown's home defeat against Malew means Colby take the silverware and are promoted to the Canada Life Men's Premier League with three games to spare.
Elsewhere in the second tier, Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) moved up into the one remaining promotion spot in second place after a hard-fought victory up against Pulrose United.
Meanwhile, in the Canada Life Men's Premier League, Peel now only need one point from their remaining two games to successfully defend their title after they earned 5-2 win at Union Mills last night.
Peel's nearest challengers, Corinthians swept to a home win over Rushen United and remain three points behind Peel but with just one game of their league campaign now remaining.
Also in the top flight, Foxdale made it back-to-back wins after they overcame Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.), a result which still gives Foxdale the slimmest chance of surviving relegation.
The midweek football action on Island continues this evening (29 April) with another trophy now decided without its winners having to even kick a ball later today.
Ramsey have been crowned Canada Life Combination One champions as they've been awarded a home walkover against Union Mills - who the northerners were due to face this evening - meaning Ramsey go top of the pile and clear of their challengers with a match to spare.
Six other matches are currently scheduled across the combination leagues tonight, getting underway from 6.30pm.
