Football: High-flying Corinthians hoping to upset Ayre

Early Div 2 challengers Braddan and 'Old Boys' to meet (Fixtures: 28-29 Sept)

Another battle between two of the early Canada Life Men's Premier League contenders is among the standout ties for this weekend's Isle of Man football fixtures.

Defending champions Ayre United - three points behind leaders Peel but with a game in hand - face a tough home tie against a Corinthians team currently ahead of the northerners in second.

Peel meanwhile will be hoping to hang onto their lofty perch at this early stage as they prepare to take on St George's at Glencrutchery Road tomorrow.

A battle at the top is also scheduled in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 as current table-toppers Braddan head to Blackberry Lane to face Douglas High School Old Boys (Dhsob.).

Whilst 'Old Boys' are three points behind their visitors this weekend in third spot, they have two games in hand on Braddan as well as in-form Michael United in second.

All of Saturday's fixtures will kick-off at 2.30pm with the exception of St Mary's vs St John's United in Canada Life Combination One which gets underway at the earlier time of 1.45pm.

Elsewhere, two titans meet in the Canada Life Women's League on Sunday (29 September) as title holders Peel face top-of-the-table rivals Corinthians.
