Season's curtain raiser beckons
Peel AFC and Ayre United FC will meet for The Eric Fletcher Charity Shield tonight (22 August).
The season opener will take place at The Bowl in Douglas, between last season's Canada Life Premier League and FA Cup winners respectively.
It was a tightly contested 2024/25 season between the two which saw Peel named champions by two points over Ayre after 24 games.
Although the Northern side missed out on the league title, they beat Union Mills 4-3 in the ECAP FA Cup.
Phil Quayle has replaced Nick Hurt as the Ayre manager, stepping up from his role as boss of club's combination team.
He said he's looking forward to tonight's fixture and the rest of the season:
Kick off tonight is at 7pm.
