Football: Peel with chance to close in on premier league leaders

Promotion race hotting up in Division 2 heading into weekend

Defending Canada Life Men's Premier League champions, Peel could move to within two points of their current title rivals at the top as the latest Isle of Man football fixtures beckon this weekend.

With current top-flight leaders, Corinthians not in action tomorrow, Peel are on the road at St Mary's with the westerners heading into Saturday five points adrift of Corinthians but with three games in hand.

Among the other premier league meetings on Saturday, time is running out for both Foxdale and Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.) in their fights for survival ahead of their latest respective tests, both will start the day 11 points and nine points away from safety respectively.

In Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2, Colby remain ten points clear at the top ahead of a home tie against southern rivals, Malew tomorrow.

Elsewhere, second-placed Castletown head to Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys whilst Marown in third - three points behind Castletown but having played three games fewer - will host Douglas Royal.

On Sunday (12 April), the Canada Life Women's League returns - included in the three upcoming matches, league frontrunners, Peel will be hoping to keep up their 100 per cent record away at Douglas Royal.

Meanwhile, second-placed Corinthians host Onchan in fourth and Union Mills - still searching for their first win of the campaign - welcome Rushen United.
