Football: Premier League 'clash of the titans' headlines weekend ties

Elsewhere, goal difference separates duo at the top of Division 2

A proverbial 'clash of the titans' sees the reigning Canada Life Men's Premier League champions host the division's current leaders in the headline tie in Manx football this weekend.

Leading the way in Saturday's matches across the senior men's leagues, Peel host Corinthians in the top flight with the westeners currently trailing their visitors by seven points but with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, second-placed St John's United have a chance to continue their flying start to the campaign when they welcome Colby whilst Union Mills - the only other unbeaten premier league side along with Corinthians - head to Laxey.

Elsewhere, just goal difference currently separates Castletown and Foxdale in first and second respectively in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 going into tomorrow's clashes.

With Foxdale on a rest week this time around, Castletown could push three points clear at the summit if they defeat St George's.

Just a little further back, Gymns could go level on points with Foxdale if they take maximum points on the road at Ayre United.

A day later on Sunday (11 October), three more fixtures are penned in across the Canada Life Women's League - new league leaders, Douglas Royal will host Onchan; second-placed Peel are on the road at Union Mills and Douglas & District face off against Rushen United.
