Football: Race for Railway Cup qualification hotting up

Four points separates premier league top five going into the weekend

Just four points separates the top five in the Canada Life Men's Premier League as the race for Railway Cup qualification hots up going into this weekend's latest Manx football clashes.

Following heavy disruption to matches across the board last week due to poor weather, there will be hopes the scheduled full programme of upcoming ties can be held this Saturday and Sunday (31 October -1 November).

Tomorrow (31 October) sees the latest senior men's fixtures take place - Corinthians continue to lead the way in the premier league and sit three points clear of their nearest challengers ahead of an away trip to struggling Colby.

Meanwhile, the only other undefeated side in the top flight, Union Mills, will start the day second and three points back on Corinthians ahead of a home tie with Braddan.

Behind Union Mills, three points go into the weekend on 16 points - Peel in third are on a rest week; St John's United in fourth travel to Rushen United and St Mary's in fifth welcome Laxey in the early kick-off.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Castletown will begin proceedings four points clear at the top of Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 ahead of potentially tricky away test at third-placed Gymns.

Separately on Sunday (1 November), this season's Canada Life Women's Floodlit Cup is due to get underway with a double-header of fixtures at The Bowl in Douglas.

First, Union Mills face off against Rushen United before Peel take on Onchan straight after.
