Football: Sides looking to catch premier league top two

Castletown take slender Division 2 advantage into weekend

Several sides have the chance to close in on the Canada Life Men's Premier League frontrunners when Manx football action returns once more this weekend.

Heading into tomorrow's clashes across the senior men's leagues, Corinthians in first in the top-flight and St John's United in second are both on a rest week, meaning others in behind have the chance to close the gap.

Third-placed Union Mills could go above St John's United in second if they defeat Onchan home turf whilst Peel in fourth could also go as high as second if they win at Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) and Union Mills lose out.

Elsewhere, just one point separates Castletown at the top and Foxdale in second in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 going into the latest gameweek.

Tomorrow, Castletown will travel to Douglas Royal whilst Foxdale will host Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.).

Meanwhile, on Sunday (18 October) in the Canada Life Women's League, Douglas Royal will be hoping to keep up their perfect start at the top of the standings when they take on Rushen United.

At the same time that day, Onchan will host Union Mills and Corinthians will welcome Douglas & District.
