Club confirms death of George Corkill earlier this week
Tributes are being paid to Marown AFC President George Corkill following his death earlier this week.
In a statement, the club is sending its condolences to Mr Corkill's family and friends at this time describing him as 'a massive part of Marown AFC for nearly 50 years.'
Having most recently served as president of the club from 1995 to 2024, Mr Corkill also previously served as Marown chairman between 1991-1995; Vice President of the Isle of Man FA from 1986 until 1988 as well as being FA Rep for Marown between 1977-1990.
The club goes on to describe Mr Corkill as 'always a gentleman' who gave 'exceptional service to both the club and FA for almost half a century.'
A one-minute silence will be held across all Isle of Man football matches this Saturday (24 February) in Mr Corkill's memory.
