Keith Gerrard recorded a personal best and new Manx record for the 5000 metres at the British Milers Club Watford Grand Prix on Saturday evening.
His time of 14.12.30 reduced his own mark, set in Birmingham last July, by a huge 14 seconds.
Gerrard has shown excellent form this summer and finished ninth in the men’s "A" race from a field of 19 that included many overseas athletes.
The Manx Sports Aid recipient still feels he can run faster this year and said "I ran too cautiously at the start and lost contact with the front pack. I had to lead the rest of the field for the remainder of the race".
First over the line was Linus Chumba (Kenya) in 13.44.70 with Sean Connolly (Ireland) second in 13.55.90.
Isle of Man Easter Festival competitor Jonathon Mellor (Liverpool) took third place setting personal best of 13.57.70.
