Prizes for over 50s, 60s & 70s up for grabs
Tipped as favourite in the women's ranks is Shirley Price after coming runner up in the Women’s Championship at Peel. But the event will be competitive with the likes of Jane Gaines (Ramsey) hoping to defend her title. Fellow Ramsey member Joy Morris will also be in the running, aiming to make life difficult for Price and Gaines, as will Rowany’s Diane Neale being ready to step up should the opportunity manifest itself.
In the men’s, Champion Julian Sutton could be the man to beat but he'll have to play well with is old adversary Gary Wilson on the start sheet and Gary Ashe also having the advantage of local knowledge. The Ward brothers will also be confident playing the Douglas course, as will Director of Elite Golf David Kinrade (Ramsey) who never wastes a shot.
The action gets underway this Sunday (7 Aug) at Douglas Golf Club.
