
Guy Martin took the honours in this afternoon's Solo championship race at the Southern 100.
He battled hammer and tongs throughout the nine lap race with Dean Harrison, who led in the early stages.
Harrison finished second, setting a new absolute lap record around the Billown circuit of 114.601 miles per hour.
Local rider Dan Kneen finished in third place.
The race leaders had caught up with back markers by the final lap.
Manx Radio commentator Maurice Mawdesley described a thrilling close finish and afterwards Guy Martin said he struck lucky having a clear stretch of road to get past the hold-up:
