Reports in the United Kingdom press say Manx-based businessman Trevor Hemmings is spending £750,000 a month on his football club.
Mr Hemmings is a lifelong fan of Preston North End and took it over last year when it faced being wound up by the UK taxman.
Since then, he has spent around £25 million on the League One side which was relegated from the Championship last May.
Mr Hemmings is reported as saying he is having to find £750,000 each month just to keep Preston North End going.
