Bacchas through to quarter-finals of Men’s Trophy
Bacchas A are the toast of Manx hockey after a fine win in the third round of the England Men’s Trophy on Saturday.
In a rare home match, they came from behind to defeat Rugby and East Warwickshire at the National Sports Centre and reach the quarter-finals.
After the visitors took a first-half lead, that advantage looked set to be doubled when Rugby and East Warwickshire were awarded a penalty.
However, goalkeeper Greg Turner saved the flick and Bacchas were visibly lifted.
Cue Andy Whiting.
The Bacchas’ front man scored a superb second half hat-trick to seal a memorable win.
Skipper Jamie Brown was full of praise for the whole side and said the penalty save was the definite turning point.
