Hockey: IoM Under-16 girls hammer Bowdon in England Hockey championships

Under-16 Boys also through with narrow win at Oxton

The Isle of Man Under-16 girls hockey side hammered Bowdon Under-16 girls 13-0 as two Island squads progressed in their latest England Hockey Knockout Championship competitions.

In a ruthless display in Altrincham, Sophie Partington struck five and Isla Caine bagged hat-trick in the EH Tier 2 Under-16 KO tournament.

On the scoresheet also was Safina Miah who netted a brace and goals apiece for Bree Collister, Zara Levy and Ela Blakemore.

Elsewhere, the Isle of Man Under-16 boys team had a much closer contest in their EH Tier 2 Under-16 KO event as they beat Oxton 2-0 on shuffles after a 0-0 draw in regular time.

Converting for the Isle of Man during the shuffles were Ethan Skillicorn and George Leece.

Both matches take later than previously planned and had originally been due to be held on Sunday, 20 October.

However they were postponed that weekend due to travel disruption as a result of Storm Ashley.
