Island teams net 14 goals across two games in ruthless displays
Two of the Isle of Man's senior national hockey squads took big wins during their latest competitive fixtures in the England Hockey Championships yesterday (15 February).
The Isle of Man Ladies B and Isle of Man Men's B teams came up against off-Island competition during Saturday as they contested the latest rounds of the Ladies EH Tier 3 Plate and Men's EH Tier 3 Plate respectively.
On home soil in Douglas the Ladies side proved too much for Northallerton 1sts, emerging with an 8-1 victory to progress.
A similarly clinical performance from the Men's team in Lancashire saw them reach the next phase of their tournament with a 6-0 win over Garstang 1sts.
In their first EH Championship contest since October last year, the Ladies B put on a ruthless display at the NSC with Harlequins player Rachel Middleton securing a brace of goals.
There were then six other individual scorers as Emily Middleton, Morven Smith, Ela Blakemore, Evie Watterson, Rebecca Ormesher and Lucy Cartwright all finding the net.
Elsewhere, the Men's B had scorers across the park as they dismantled Garstang 1sts - Castletown's George Powell grabbed two of the six strikes they converted.
Also on target were Kyle Gunnion, Tom Tsitsos, Ethan Adams and captain John Verrall.
The Manx Hockey Association is congratulating both teams on their respective results and wishing them luck for the next round of their respective competitions.
