Report by Sam Spooner:

In all three of the finals taking place this weekend there is a clear favourite in each of them with all three of the senior league winners taking their place in the final. However as last years Men’s and Ladies finals showed it isn’t always league form that carries though into the knockout competitions.

The MHA Mixed Cup sees undefeated Champions of the Rossborough Premier League take on Valkyrs A. Valkyrs A had a disappointing end to their campaign after being in contention for second place and ending up 3 losing two of their final three games. With Vikings their season was one of absolute domination with 7 wins out of 7 and only 7 goals scored past them. This final however could be closer than form suggests with Valkyrs boasting experienced Cup Finalists such as Gregg Miller they will challenge Vikings. However if you want to put money on a winner the clear favourite is Vikings A.

Valkyrs C take on the favourites tag in the MHA Mixed Plate after their own undefeated season in Rossborough Mixed Division One scoring a huge 33 goals in 7 games on route to their title they are a side that has proved very difficult to stop and even harder to score against. Bacchas Colts however have some very experienced players mixed with some incredible youth players coming through the senior teams and although it will be a stern test for Bacchas Colts they will be up to the task. The only recent comparison was in last years Men’s Plate final after Valkyrs Men’s C had demolished everyone in the league including Vikings C it took penalty strokes to separate the two sides in the final which proves league form means little especially against a side like Bacchas.

The newest competition which was introduced this year sees the MHA Mixed Bowl Final take place with Castletown Cosney defying their league form to make it into the final whilst Rossborough Mixed Division Two Champions Vikings D who did not concede a single goal on route to their title and scored the most goals out of any team with 44 will be the sternest test out of all the finals. Cosney finished in 6th out of 8 places in the league but if they can carry their form from the previous rounds into this final there is a chance should the stars align and the wind blow in their favour that they can overcome the juggernaut that is Vikings D. This is very much a David vs Goliath battle and bigger surprises have happened in sport.
