Reigning men’s hockey champions Bacchas A were given a scare on Saturday but they maintained their winning start to the campaign. A 4-2 success over Ramsey A ensured they made it two wins out of two in the PwC Premier Division. Johnny Callow and Andy Whiting (three) were the Bacchas’ marksmen. Nat Smith and Connor Hird found the net for Ramsey. Vikings A also made it two wins out of two. Alex Birch (two), Tom Wilson (two), Tim Henderson, Steve Underwood and Danny Hamill were on target in a 7-0 success over their B team. Valkyrs A thrashed Bacchas B 9-1. Ollie Webster (three), Ben Stevenson (two), Tim Stevenson, Chris Caldwell, Luis Novo Smith and Chris Killey ensured a rout. Craig Leece replied for Bacchas B. In the women’s Premier League, champions Vikings A demolished Ramsey A 8-0, courtesy of Kim Carney (two), Georgia Foxton (two), Louise Slater (two), Sarah Blackman and Zoe Carney. Sophie Hudson (two), Emma Leeming, Freya Duchars, Kathryn Craine and Ellie Pearson were the scorers as Bacchas A saw off Castletown A 6-1. Katie Nicholson scored their consolation. Valkyrs A overturned a half-time deficit to run out 5-2 winners over Harlequins A, who found the net via the stick of Sam Hassall and Chloe Quilliam.
